Maslow

To demonstrate the hierarchy of need, I chose an image of a wedding. Relating this to the new ideas in the hierarchy of needs which are mate acquisition and mate retention, I chose this image to reveal just how much us humans actually care about these two things. Unlike most animals, we as humans tend to not want to stop at just reproducing and keep the gene pool going. We have an instinct, or need, to feel wanted and loved. We realize that the need sitting at the top of the pyramid, which is parenting, needs to be reserved and experienced with the most special person to enter our life. Relating this to the wedding, I would like to point out the great measures we go through in order to make this day special. First of all the setting in general. It is commonplace to hold a wedding in a church, but when you think about throughout history the sanctuary of a church has always been the most sacred ground. We choose to attach ourselves to this other person for life, and we choose to do it in the presence of who we believe is our supreme God. Also notice how everything in the room eventually points or centralizes on the aisle for the bride, and eventually the altar at which they will marry.
